Getting “It” Once, a long time ago, a friend mentioned she felt that she would never “get it”. I shared with her that the “It” that she spoke of didn’t exist. There is no it. The evolution of the soul is a process of growing, changing, dying, rebirth, sleeping, awakening, sorrow, pain, bliss, acceptance, resistance, narrowing and opening. When we expect to arrive at a certain state of mind, it limits us and we often miss the real opportunity presented in the present condition. Feeling stuck keeps us bound to our old patterns. Just as some things can only grow within the size of their container, so our awareness grows. When we open up to the potential in all aspects of our life, we are freed from the bondage of disbelief, and hopelessness. Our lives are often focused on achievement and completing tasks. We celebrate milestones as forms of completion. I see these experiences as dying from one self and birthing into a new incarnation, a celebration, a release, and the beginning of a new journey. We all have had many incarnations and selves within our one lifetime. This is why it is so important to hold the vision of an expanded self and nurture the enthusiasm that spawns from this knowledge. Rather than feeling the lack of what we haven’t done yet, or seeing that we’re still battling the same demons. We can see each incarnation as intrinsic part of the process and know that with acceptance we remove the barriers to our expansion. As Rainer Maria Rilke says ““Let everything happen to you Beauty and terror, Just keep going, No feeling is final” We can see very obviously, that we are not the same bodies we were just a few years ago. We certainly are not our 10 year old, form or our 20 year old and so on. Our bodies are telling us always, of this shifting, changing cycle. Why then do we disallow it in our minds? Why hold onto the skin we have to shed? Allowing change is the most natural thing we can do. I feel it is the fear of death, or the fear of the end of something that keeps us in our dysfunctional habitual past. Just as when one mourns the loss of a loved one, all the losses in life come back to fuel and ignite the fire; our sorrow. We fear loss at the fundamental level. Unconsciously we resist change assuming it accompanies loss. This paradox can instill conflict within our minds, unless we understand that with every death is a rebirth. As I have heard it said, Embrace endings, even in each breath is a death of sorts. In this way we can learn to let go of our historical self and free our new expanded version into its ultimate expression. What are you wanting to let go of that seems to hold you in a state of fear? What is this feeling telling you about your upcoming advancement? Can you see how life would improve when you trust the natural cycle of change and allow it to move through your experience? There are many questions we can ask to shine the light on our withholdings. It is important that we answer them and breathe a deep breath of confidence and then step forward. Without the step we are limiting the size of our container, and inhibiting our progression which is our life. Step now into your next incarnation and build it with conscious intent. This will start the cogs in motion and enable the greatness you were born for to manifest. We all have a natural attraction towards our inner bliss. A quote to live by, “You get what you settle for.” Let’s not ever settle. Let’s learn to learn and enjoy every bit of the progressive process. Let’s get it, then get it again, and again and ... so on. Peace, Compassion, Wisdom ~M~
