Getting into it with some misogynist gamers. What do you guys - TopicsExpress

Getting into it with some misogynist gamers. What do you guys think? Are there enough strong female protagonists in games? Heres what I had to say: Zelda is a good protagonist?? Do you guys know what a protagonist is? Its the main character you play as. Link is the protagonist. Zelda is a princess who constantly needs saving. I think some of you are stretching a bit. My programmer/gamer husband has come up with a couple of games, but is hard pressed to. Broken Age, Lara Croft, and Alien are about the best he can do. As for those who say there isnt a problem, youre sounding a bit like Bill OReilly with his racism denial . Misogyny is alive and well and is quite evident in the gaming industry. As the mother and wife of gamers, one of whom is a female, I am disgusted by the hatred of women in the industry. The argument that the industry is dominated by men ergo they arent going to write strong female leads is ridiculous. They have someone to pander to and they pander. Im a writer by trade and education and my heroes are usually men. I dont know why, I just enjoy being in the head of a male character even though Im a woman. Youre insulting the artists by making that assumption. Not only that, but when women DO enter the industry, theyre issued death threats! I know games are important. I know gaming is a way to destress and relax. I get it. But dont treat it like a religion or a way of life--as some of you clearly do.
