Getting pretty annoyed with overly negative music writing. The highly critical bad Pitchfork reviews are sickening enough to me, but I keep catching sight of these ridiculously negative Noisy articles. From the article about why cassettes suck, to the misinformed one about what it means to be a girl in a band, and now this stupid one about what bands shouldnt be influenced by... I get that the people who write all this stuff think they are funny, and that is sort of the purpose of it or whatever. Its just that spreading negativity as a joke, is still spreading negativity. Im not even an overly serious person either. I love comedy and sarcasm, and I make a joke out of most things that happen in my life. I just cant get behind this stuff. I think there is also something just really baffling to me about critical writing in general. Its one thing to write about something like music in an objective way, but to feel entitled enough in your own opinions to say what is or isnt working about someone elses creative expression seems strange to me. Anyway bla bla bla.
