Getting pretty grim in California. Residents of East Portersville - TopicsExpress

Getting pretty grim in California. Residents of East Portersville now have to drive to the local fire station, hand-pump water into barrels, and take it back home to drink, bathe, and flush the toilet; this in an area near what was at one time the largest freshwater lake west of the Great Lakes. In the once-proud State of California, residents are having to carry water like people living in a third-world village. Meanwhile, the Nestle corporation is pumping groundwater without paying for it, putting it in bottles and making people pay for what should be a human right--clean, potable water. Lets stop pretending that corporations exist for any other purpose than to make money. That they employ SOME people is not reason enough to continue to coddle them with tax breaks and subsidies. The kind of system that allows companies to take what they want and destroy our environment with the blessing of our elected officials can only be called one thing: corporatism.
