Getting ready for tomorrow night and our 1,000 plus guests. We gathered up the displays today out of the garage but had to wait until Bob was finished working to clean the porch off to put everything out. The front porch was his workshop. The 3rd floor windows are ready but Michella Bowling had a real bad headache today and didn’t get the 2nd floor done. She Plans on doing it in the morning after Marvin goes to work. I have a wooden barrel and a bushel wooden crate full of pumpkins to put on the porch. I have a little ride on tractor that I purchased at a garage sale in Vanlue a couple of years ago that I am going to put with the pumpkins, then the regular Halloween decorations. Most of the neighbors are already all decorated. When Melissa and Bob walked last night they were all out working putting up decorations and Bob said this evening several were roping off their yards to protect them from the stampede that will be here. This is the busiest street in town on Trick or Treat night. When I was pricing candy someone at Wal-Mart ask where we live and when I told her she said she said O yea, that’s a popular street. Another told me she thinks it is because it is an old neighborhood and they feel safe. The street is one big traffic jam with police cars patrolling all evening. One of our neighbors passes out Coke’s, another had a grill set up in the driveway and serves hot dogs (she is in a service club that several of the people help out), another gives ice cream bars. We are the cheapies on the block. We just give candy bars and I’m sure we will run out before the guests do. Melissa dropped off 6 big bags this morning. I have them in a big brew pot ready to give out. We have tried to think of something original to give but haven’t come up with anything yet. If anyone has a suggestion for next year let me know please. With all the people who pass through I have wanted for years to make it a night of witnessing. Make one side of the yard Heaven and the other side hell and see which place they want to go. I need help to do that though. A big undertaking. One of our neighbors has passages for them to walk through with scary things. They put them up today. It’s just a fun night with all the kids. Has nothing to do with witches or demons. Just as much fun for us giving as the ones who are receiving. Last year at this time we were in the hospital in Charleston so it is great that we will be able to have an enjoyable evening and be thankful for where/what God has brought us through this year.
