Getting rid of Seanad will focus attention on the need to reform the Dáil – ‘Two dysfunctional institutions sit atop our state at the very time where we need our machine parts well-oiled, efficient and operational. So I say instead of voting to hold both houses and hope for reform of just one, let’s get rid of one and force a reform of the other. Getting rid of the Seanad will allow us to focus all of our glare on the Dáil and never miss a trick.’
