Getting saved was no party for me. In fact, I went to up for alter call every Sunday, gave my life to Christ and nothing happened. Everyone else seemed to catch it but me. Then I decided well maybe I’m in the wrong church, I’ll try the one down the street. Still nothing! So after that I decided to just act like a Christian. Maybe it would trigger something, anything! It didn’t work. Then I just gave up. While visiting my brother in New Jersey he decides to take me to church swearing on his life, that this was the right place and I was going to find God. Knowing what a religious nut he was I just agreed to go. I really didn’t care at this point. So we get there with tons of people all around, and wild music pounding in my head, people dancing around and yelling until the preacher comes out. He talks for a while and then everyone started forming these lines. So my brother tells me to get in line and I am NOT HAPPY. By the time this guy gets to me He has a microphone in his hand and looks down at me and says, “Are you ready to give your life to Jesus!” In a shocked state all I could say was “Yes I am.” Now you need to understand I was in my mid-forties and this guy was six foot four in a $500.00 suit! What was I going to say? No? That’s when it happened. And my whole world was tipped upside down. On the way home I asked my brother how he knew it would stick. That’s when he told me that he had been praying for twenty five years for me to get saved……….
