It remains cold towards the weekend with further wintry showers, giving some accumulations of snow especially at higher levels, southern areas seeing the best of the drier and brighter conditions. By the weekend it could turn even colder as a bitterly cold northerly flow takes hold, bringing the risk of further sleet and snow. Windy throughout, which will accentuate the cold with a significant wind chill, temperatures below average with overnight frost and ice. Possibly turning less cold by the middle part of next week, although some uncertainty on this at the moment
