Gfs 6z pressure and 850hpa temperature charts for the 2nd february. During wednesday outbreaks of rain will sweep southeastwards across the uk, the rain possibly turning to sleet and snow on its back edge as colder air from the northwest follows. Most places then seeing sunny spells and wintry showers, these most frequent across northern parts. It remains cold towards the weekend with further wintry showers, giving some accumulations of snow especially at higher levels, southern areas seeing the best of the drier and brighter conditions. By the weekend it could turn even colder as a bitterly cold northerly flow takes hold, bringing the risk of further sleet and snow. Windy throughout, which will accentuate the cold with a significant wind chill, temperatures below average with overnight frost and ice. Possibly turning less cold by the middle part of next week, although some uncertainty on this at the moment
