Ghana improves in World Press Freedom Index • Ghana made an improvement in the 2014 World Press Freedom Index released by Reporters without Borders, a France-based international organization that promotes and defends freedom of information and freedom of the press. • In the latest ranking released on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, Ghana moved up three places from 30th last year to 27th this year. • Ghana’s position was better than those of countries like the United Kingdom (33), United States of America ((46), France (39) and South Africa (42), which are perceived to have strong pro-freedom-of-information policies. • Ghana, however, remained Africa’s third-ranked media-friendly country after Namibia (22) and Cape Verde (24).
