Ghana, the subject of this weeks Navigators nation feature, is home to Lake Volta, the worlds largest artificial lake by surface area (8,482 sq km; 3,275 sq mi). In 1957, the west African nation became the first sub-Saharan country in colonial Africa to become independent. According to The World Factbook, Ghana has a population of more than 25 million people, 71.2 percent of which identify Christianity as their religion.
