Ghost Towns by Allen Kirkham - Allen & Jill Kirkham of the Circle B Cowboys Out West of Buena Vista beyond Mount Princetons heights Lie towns of ghostly wood where gold lust stole their lives, Hancock and Saint Elmo, Pitkin and Tin Cup, High up in the Rockies the towns were goin up. The year was 1880 and gold was in the hills, Those folks have long since died, but the gold is up there still. Among the pines and peaks still fading in the sun, Reminders of their dreams, lay the ruins of their homes. There are ghost towns in the Rockies where the greedy lusted gold, Ghost towns of the heart, and ghost towns of the soul, Wasted lives spent digging down an empty glory hole. So, store your treasure up above, not in ghost towns of the soul. We hiked up Hancock Pass above the timberline, Explored the fallen logs, took pictures of old mines. We marveled at Gods wonders from the peaks down to the plains, And pondered on the work that men had spent in vain. There are ghost towns in the Rockies where the greedy lusted gold, Ghost towns of the heart, and ghost towns of the soul, Wasted lives spent digging down an empty glory hole. So, store your treasure up above, not in ghost towns of the soul.
