Gideon Man(n) was the earliest known ancestor of the Mann family at North Yarmouth. He was born around 1705 and purchased property at North Yarmouth (now Yarmouth, Maine) around 1734 from the Armstrongs of Boston. Later he purchased multiple parcels at and near Flying Point, where the old Mann family farm house still stands.. He apparently had a reputation as an able man and served as constable in 1749-50.
