Gideon was exhausted today & slept most of the day. He had a few family visitors this evening to give him birthday kisses. He had some small seizures but far less than other recent days. Today we were reminded again that God is in control, as we woke up to Gideon kisses & loves. Gideon required very high doses of medications to stop the seizures & control the pain last night. These high doses come with the risk of respiratory suppression. He could have stopped breathing last night as he only weighs 35 lbs. instead, he had the best night of restful sleep. No breathing difficulties at all. Last nights seizures have done lasting damage. Gideons tongue has lost coordination so hes now on just liquids through the syringe. Hes struggling to say the only word he has left in his vocabulary that. He is still able to move around some on his stomach but hes not able to sit himself completely up right like he was able to do just yesterday. OHSU has remained in close contact throughout the day. His pediatrician has had many updates as well. Gideon has a great team of medical professionals all focused on maintaining the common goal of keeping him as comfortable as possible. Our 5 year old little boy is ready for bed. Thank you all for the kind birthday wishes. At night as we goto bed Ive made it a habit since the day Gideon was born to talk him to sleep. Kind of like reading a long story. The same story before he got so sick. His family & then friends from daycare, but as hes gotten sick & this page has grown in followers. Now,I tell him everyones name who loves him and I read him names from this page (those whove liked his page). We are deeply blessed to have so many people covering us in love & prayers. Thank you all
