Gilani flays arrest of Hurriyet leaders, activists in IHK. Srinagar, June 25 (SEN): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has castigated the Indian police for creating the atmosphere of fear and terror in the territory by arresting pro-freedom leaders and activists. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said that in its fresh arrest drive, the police had detained scores of pro-freedom leaders and activists of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir. “The police are raiding the housesof pro-freedom leaders. The SHO police station, Zainpora, Shopian, is unnecessarily harassing the leader of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi. Police officials dressed in civvies often come to his residence and pressurize him to be present at the police station,” he stated. The veteran leader termed the detention of Hurriyet activists including Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi, Zafar Habib, Muhammad Maqbool Dewsari, Nisar Ahmad Malik, Ghulam Hassan Dar, Meraj Din, Zubair Ahmad and Abdul Majid Hura as unjustified and unconstitutional. Syed Ali Gilani said that his forum was a political platform and believed in peaceful political activities. Arresting its workers onthe Indian prime minister’s proposed visit is unconstitutional and unjustified, he added, terming the fresh arrest drive as frustration of the occupation authorities. He deplored that in the name of security, entire Kashmir Valley had been kept under siege. Meanwhile, the forum led by Syed Ali Gilani has ridiculed the statement of Hindu fundamentalist BJP leader, Narindera Modi, about Kashmir, terming it election stunt. Modi hadsaid that there was a need to “heal the wounds” of Kashmiris..sen news..
