Gillard of the Overflow:- There was movement up in Canberra, For the word had got around That Labor’s vote was bound to get away, And roam with Abbott’s strangers, Where the wild WorkChoices grow, And Caucus hacks had gathered for the fray. There was Swan, weep like a river, Who the Treasurer had been, To oversee the country’s dollar mire, And herd our sick economy, To retrenched numbers dire. And Conroy, solid message boy, With Broadband in the dark, Did call online, to pass the line That every choice was stark, And Penny Wong, don’t get me wrong, I think I got it right, Was there to stoke the funeral pyre, That raged on in the night. Albanese took it easy, While Garrett sang a song, And Smith the Lawyer for Defence, Just helped the flames along. Tony Burke, not out of work Was gathered for the fray, With Combet’s arm And lots of charm, ‘Neath armpit tucked away. The night was dark, when like a shark, Red Gillard took the reins, And gave old heartsick Kevin Rudd A whipping for his pains, Off with his head, the Red Queen said, In twenty ten for true, Now Kevin’s back, the reins are slack, And Jules is feeling blue The votes be cast, And then at last, The leadership will show, Whether there is any joy in Gillard’s Overflow.
