Gillian Stewart 13 mins · Guildford · Day 4. Prince was right there with me as soon as I arrived. I didnt do any training with the clicker at all until hed stopped looking for it but when I called him he made a beeline. Some comments today about clicker training causing mugging or nipping and I was glad to be able to answer that and share Melanie Watsons video of Marley learning how NOT to mug. Prince isnt getting reinforced for mugging but it was good opportunity to think more about this. One thing he will do is place himself in front of me when I walk up the field. Its as if he is saying Stop and play with me!. I move him away and then leave him a while because hes too motivated like that. It feels calm and relaxed if I ignore that behaviour and then call him back in my terms. He has a choice and he chooses to come. Result! Just a quick sesh tonight but I now dont have any issues giving Finlay his feed (with supplement Prince isnt on) while Prince stays at liberty. This is huge improvement as Prince has always pushed Fin away from food with ears back. I am sooo happy to be happy with my boy again
