Ginebra aims for playoff spot vesus Talk ‘N Text; Alaska targets top four seat against Air 21 Barangay Ginebra San Miguel goes for a trouble-free ticket to the Governors’ Cup quarterfinals when it takes on Talk ‘N Text on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena. The Gin Kings battle the Tropang Texters at 7:30 p.m. with Talk ‘N Text hoping to force a playoff for the final playoff seat with a victory. A Ginebra win will give the team the eighth seed in the playoffs, while a loss will leave them tied with Talk ‘N Text, which would require a knockout match between the two teams on Monday. Import Dior Lowhorn and the rest of the Gin Kings, who are coming off an overtime loss on Friday to GlobalPort, are expected to go all-out for the sure playoff seat. Talk ‘N Text is banking on better chemistry with new import Courtney Fells, suiting up in his second PBA game, as it tries to stave off elimination. In the first game, Alaska hopes to force a playoff for the fourth spot against an Air 21 team holding on to the slimmest glimmer of hope for a seat in the quarterfinals. An Aces victory will force a playoff between Alaska and Rain or Shine for fourth place in the standings on Monday, starting a virtual best-of-three series between the two squads. The Express need to take care of business against Alaska, before hoping that Talk ‘N Text defeats Ginebra by 22 points or more to secure a tiebreak advantage for a playoff for a quarterfinals seat.
