Ginger and I met up with fellow explorer Tom Huntoon and his dog - TopicsExpress

Ginger and I met up with fellow explorer Tom Huntoon and his dog Trigger today to attempt and solve the mystery of the old cement supports near Lewis Run once and for all. We briefly discussed whether everyone on IGUIBPA was getting tired of culverts, big trees, old ruins, and RR stuff, but then we said screw it, so you will all have to suffer through another of these posts. :) We saw some interesting things along the way. I dont think Dave Rathfons Propane tanks were here on these supports. First off, there arent enough supports for the amount of tanks that were reported to be here, (4 sets of supports vs 11 giant Propane tanks) secondly, I think the badly deteriorated tank supports are much older than the set that I am pictured standing on. I think they added a tank later, or moved one possibly to a new set of supports. The other thing that makes me think that these arent the Propane tanks in the article, is that there isnt an obvious rail siding or any significant infrastructure that you might expect at such a facility, and they are quite a ways from the main line. Finally, they arent anywhere near the old Alumnashale brick plant property, as reported in one of Daves articles. We also went up to Langmaid lane to see the state record White Pine, but I will let Tom Huntoon post a couple of photos of that, as mine have nothing in them for perspective. Tom, please feel free to post your pics of both legs of this trip. Thanks for coming out, it was good to see you again, looking forward to our next trip!
