Giorgiones the tempest 1506-1508; oil on canvas 82x73 cm; Venice, Gallerie dellAccademia. Painting with the color without preparatory drawing the tempest by Tizian addition is probably the most enigmatic framework of art history, after the Mona Lisa by Leonardo. Difficult to interpret in the nineteenth century the picture was titled Giorgiones family, seen as a portrait of the artist and of his family. According to another hypothesis, the man and the woman in the painting are the ancestors escaped the flood, according to other nursing Cains Eve after the expulsion, the city in the background is the Eden lost and the fulimine the wrath. According to the hypothesis by Maurizio Calvesi, instead, the work is an allegory of the Union between heaven and Earth based on a written framework. In March I had the opportunity to admire the work personally to the Gallerie dellAccademia in Venice, and whatever the interpretation and meaning, despite the small size, I can assure you that the tempest catch you from the very first glance. Its really something indescribable, especially for those who, like me, loves to Giorgione. :) (Melissa)
