Girl repeatedly slapped by fellow students sparks outrage Video footage of a female student in Zhejiang Province being repeatedly slapped in face by several elder students because she didnt wear school uniform has lit up people’s anger online. The incident took place in No.2 Middle School of Jiangshan on December 12, but wasn’t exposed till a netizen published the amateur footage online on the first day of January, according to Zhejiang TV. The local education bureau issued a statement on Monday, reaching a decision: four school officials including the deputy director are suspended from duties; the head master must make a self-criticism in public; batterers’ headmasters write self-criticism; and student batterers receive punishments strictly based on the school rules. The school issued a statement on Sunday, saying the incident was carefully handled at the time it took place. It has punished the student batterers in the video and their head teachers in December. The statement said the girl didn’t wear school uniform according to the school rules and then had dispute with five students from a higher grade on Dec 10. Two days later the five students, all girls, found the “rule breaker” and four of them beat her for minutes while the other filmed the video. The case has raised people’s concerns for children’s safety in #school.
