Girlfriends Sharpening Girlfriends Karen. She called me - TopicsExpress

Girlfriends Sharpening Girlfriends Karen. She called me yesterday. We’ve been close friends for nearly three decades. Not the kind who need to speak daily, but the kind who know when it’s time to call to encourage and ask how to best be praying. We discuss scripture and life, not always seeing eye-to-eye, but always believing. Because we both know—the Bible is true and so is the love of Jesus. And that bonds us eternally … and a friendship like that won’t be broken. She poured out her heart, knowing I am most honored to walk alongside her in prayer. And I hung up the phone and gave thanks that she trusts me and that God loves me so wildly that He gifted me with her. Because iron sharpens iron … and Karen sharpens me. Dear friends are like that, bonded in Christ. And that is all it takes to replenish a parched soul. I have a small handful of ladies like that in my life. Women I can call out of the blue, and with whom I can bare my soul, cry the ugly cry, … with whom I am perfectly comfortable, void of make-up. I need girlfriends who love me and our God enough to confide in me, comfort me, … and confront me. Girlfriends who want nothing from me other than to see me become more like Jesus. Girlfriends like Karen. I long to master the art of friendship. And so I ask God to grow me and help me to love as He loves. I plead with Him to help me step outside of myself and into the mystery of Jesus so He will then be poured into those I hold dear. And I beseech Him to use me to sharpen my friends. Because iron sharpens iron, so girlfriends should sharpen girlfriends.
