Girls’ mum’s filled with ornate accessories made a significant impact on both eyes and ears as the students changed classes. It was homecoming and lots of the girls wore their treasures all day long. Some of them were attractive, but in a quest to have bigger and better, many of them were heavy to manage and gaudy to the eye. More than a few girls lumbered under the weight of a cumbersome load when they walked. It reminded me that sometimes we start with a great idea. At some point along the way in our attempt to impress others or be perfect, we try to do too much. What started out as glorious can become worrisome or overwhelming. The Lord doesn’t want us to feel burdened with anything he puts on our hearts to do. He only requires us to do what his grace allows. Although some matters are more serious than others or necessitate a good amount of work, when we ask him for help and provision, we’re not laboring alone; we can lean on him. “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:29)
