Give and forget. My father used to tell me Be neither a lender or borrower be. .. and so I give until it hurts sometimes then remind myself to give and forget...Not FORGIVE and forget...because to forgive someone means that you have laid judgement upon them. I looked at my charitable donations last year and realized it was 20% of my gross income but look at the list of good things that make me feel my life is worth while... 1) I rebuilt a house destroyed by Typhoon Hayen (Yolanda) 2) I sent a single mom back to school where she took midwifery and has she has since delivered 4 babies. 3) I supported a pop star group that may make it big one day soon and bring them out of poverty. 4) I hired a disabled man to help me with my business. 5) I paid for 27 cavities and 11 extractions on poor kids from the squatters vilage. 6) I continue to support my school that helps girls avoid leaving home for the brothels of Bangkok and boys from becoming mules for the opium trade. 7) I upgraded the living conditions for my tenants (but there is a selfish motive in keeping them I guess) 8) I built a washroom for a new friend who was using the bush and reconnected him with water. 9) I paid for the removal of a tumor from someone who could not afford medical treatment. 10) I removed a tree from a neighbour who was on a pension and forgave the damage it did as it crashed through my garage ceiling and donated the wood to another neighbour to keep his family warm this winter. Probably did more but 10 is enough to list. Feels great to give. I feel worthy self satisfied and happy to be alive.
