Give your spine some love and your abs a lift with this simple, yet challenging cat, cow and float pilates mat exercise. If done correctly this entire sequence is initiated by your center. By drawing your abs deep and wide into your spine. Inhale to open the heart and lift your tail, exhale to curl into cat. Press all fingers, and palm bones actively into the mat, shins and top of feet too! Keep your shoulders out of your ears engaged down your back and release your jaw clench. After a few rounds of cat and cow tuck your toes under and begin to float the knees up off the mat. Practice lifting only one inch off the mat on ever exhale. Keep your cat spine as you lift your own body. Focus your mind on your abs contracting and creating the float. Hold for as many breaths as possible with excellent form. Try a double hundreds breath to increase the contraction of your center. Keep your weight out of your legs. Transfer it more to your upper body like a handstand prep. Try it now and report back.
