Given current events, its hard not to have a very specific image of law enforcement come to mind. After controversy surrounding the deaths of Eric Gardner and Michael Brown, tensions between police and the public seem to be at a tipping point. With law enforcement under so much scrutiny, its not uncommon for an interaction with police to be a tense one. However, sheriffs in Kansas City, Missouri, are out to change that perception. With the help of one eccentric and anonymous (who prefers to be called Secret Santa) millionaire, theyre giving a little bit of holiday assistance to those in need. Armed with $100 bills, these sheriffs have been targeting drivers who look like they could use a little assistance and giving them a little cash instead of a ticket. The reactions they get are so touching that not only are many of the recipients brought to tears, but CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley also wells up. Why would a millionaire do this, though? Well, for the Secret Santa, he simply wants the sheriffs to get joy out of the kind act. As tough as they are, they have hearts bigger than the world, he said.
