Given our relative geographic isolation, this is very much true for me. I am unable to actually see many of the people that I want to spend time with and the internet - specifically facebook - gives me the opportunity to stay in contact with them. While my isolation may be changing somewhat in the not so distant future, I still see facebook as an important tool for maintaining contact with the people I can see in real life...
