Given that a lot of the hours that I contribute to specific projects is voluntary or over and above the expectations of my day to day role as a Community Development Worker, I regret to inform this community that due to the way I am feeling at the minute, as a result of what’s happened recently – there is an urgent need for me to reduce my voluntary workload and hours. Unlike other organisations, we do not have any other members of staff to step in, and this could result in the closure of our senior citizens drop-in, mums and tots group, after-schools club, junior youth club. Furthermore our senior youth club may be reduced to 2 nights a week and outings cancelled. Everyone that was involved in making the decision to issue my redundancy would have been aware that this would be the outcome; but no one had the decency to pick up the phone, send an email to inform me of a decision which has now impact on an entire community! - not much more that I can say other than I am saddened that this has happened. While the AHRA Management Committee will do everything possible to try and prevent this from happening, they cannot do it alone; they need you along with our elected representatives to make sure that this is not allowed to happen. Priority is to keep these programs running irrespective of whether I am there or not:-) Jeanette
