Given that the Body of Christ has the potential to be a community - TopicsExpress

Given that the Body of Christ has the potential to be a community that helps healing, I found this article encouraging for the Church. Whilst I havent read the journals that this article cites, the effect of healthy, joyful community as healing for addicts is a potential measurable. It also speaks to the need to *integrate* people into a wider community, rather than ghettoizing them.... APPLICATION: From a Toronto perspective, this article might very well challenge a model that the Church accepts by default: Sanctuary Ministries does great work with many men and women and, given the Churchs flight from the downtown core, it is necessary. 1. How, though, can the Church - as the complete Body of Christ - return in mission to be *the* transformed/being transformed/transforming* community *with* (NOT to!) those in the downtown core? 2. How can the Church re-enter into downtown core development that will enable healthy communities and transform lakeshore development? (Dont think that the addicts are just those living around Charles St. E, but perhaps even in the gleaming new residential towers overlooking the lake....)
