Given the recent mention of the SCA at Raglan Castle I thought Id post these pictures from our event there this August. These pictures are from the Oxford Roll Tournament, fought as a all on all melee between the Shires of the UK & Ireland, and shows some of the heraldry in use of the field and the roll itself. The Shires are the local groups. The tournament is reminiscent of early tournament formats. The winners of the Tournament get their names and arms inscribed onto the roll. The picture of the roll is as of a about 2 years ago. The posed team are Thamesreach (London) and the shield wall is Flintheath (Cambridgeshire and environs). The winning team this time were Pont Alarch (north-east England) who had a smaller team but let the larger Thamesreach and Flintheath groups effectively destroy each other before stepping in.
