Given the weather today, we thought that an interior view might be in order. This gorgeous painting ‘The Artist’s Drawing Room’ by Anna Alma-Tadema (1867–1943), has just been conserved ready for our exhibition on female artists which opens in October. Anna was the daughter and pupil of the famous Victorian artist Lawrence Alma-Tadema and early on she displayed great talent. Sadly, she disappeared into obscurity after her father died - like many female artists who struggled to establish their reputation without an influential male patron or teacher. Notice the Rossetti in the background. Annas father was a friend of the Pre-Raphaelist brotherhood.
