Giving a little behind-the-scenes of our new record, track-by-track. Now were on track 4 - The Great Unknown! Ben and his friend Greg Holden wrote this song together a little over a year ago in just a matter of hours, and when we got this demo in our email inboxes we all knew it was going to be on the record. Something about it screamed summer and unlimited possibilities. One big lyrical change happened along the way to the studio, however -- The line Theres something waiting for you was originally Theres no one looking for you in the first halves of the chorus, which gave it a slightly darker bent. We started tracking this one with Andrew Dawson (fun., Kanye West, Childish Gambino), but ended up finishing it with Dan Romer, who added those awesome pulsing synths in the chorus and that totally in-your-face snare tone. Those big gang vocals on the let go were fun to track -- Rob Cantor (Tally Hall) was one of the folks who happened to be hanging out while we were tracking, so if you listen closely you might be able to pick him out (but probably not). Somehow, this was the last track we worked on for the record. We were really down to the wire, but Dan Romer did an incredible job of putting it together quickly. That dude. Hes good.
