Giwa Runs To CAS Over Planned Suspension Factional president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Chris Giwa has dragged World soccer governing body, FIFA to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) over its threat to suspend Nigeria should the former NFF president, Aminu Maigari whose tenure had expired and had also resigned his position is not returned to office. He said his petition against the world body has been dully acknowledged and accepted, stating that he has great respect for the Court and will definitely come out with a Decision that will be devoid of sentiment. According to him, FIFA secretariat and its legal department have also acknowledged receipt of the petition to CAS. The latest move by the Chris Giwa-led NFF board may frustrate FIFA’s plan to suspend Nigeria. FIFA had warned through a letter to the Nigeria Football Federation that Nigeria will be suspended from international football unless Maigari was returned to office before today and allowed to decide when a new election should be held into the board of the Nigeria Football Federation. But Giwa is insisting that FIFA will not ban Nigeria, calling on Nigerians to remain calm and support him
