Glad to see posts of friends taking holiday w kids though mostly pre/pri sch kids. I remember it was really tiring to keep my girls occupied for days. When I was working, my helper took care of bathing, feeding etc n I took care of playing. Whenever we were on holiday, I had to take care of the girls 24 hrs for days or weeks. Phew – quite an adjustment especially in unfamiliar places eg cooking porridge in hotel in angmoh place. We carried milk powder n had to figure out ways to sterilise milk bottles in hotel- v kiasu. For winter mornings, getting them dressed was a challenge – lotion n abt 5 layers of clothes, glove, hat etc. But it was so precious to spend time together. Many people said why bother as they were too young to remember what they saw. I think so too but the time spent together each holiday must have contributed greatly to our bonding over the years. It is true that simpler holiday would be just as nice bcos it’s time together that matters. Guess it’s also meeting parents’ need lah, I wanted to see new interesting places n I can’t bear to go enjoy myself while leaving kids w helper/parents. I know my heart wld hv been with girls as I already had so little time with them due to work. So the solution – bring them whenever we wanted to go – it worked best for me. Watching them for 24 hrs for days was a real treat for working mums like me. Happy Holidays !
