Glad to see students in Jefferson County Colorado demonstrating to counter Julie Williams, the local school board member, who wants to dumb down the AP History course. When asked to specify why she objected to the curriculum, she said, I’m not familiar enough with everything that is in AP history to make that judgment.” She wants lesson plans that promote citizenship, patriotism, essentials and benefits of the free enterprise system, respect for authority and respect for individual rights and wants to eliminate anything that would “encourage or condone civil disorder, social strife or disregard of the law.” She wants, she said, “good citizens, not rebels.” So based on this, I guess there would have been no American Revolution. And forget about voting rights for women, the Civil Rights Movement, etc, etc.
