Glasgow 2014 have revealed plans to create live zones at a number of locations across the city where the public can view action from the Commonwealth Games on big screens for the duration of the event. Glasgow 2014, Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Life have revealed among the locations where the live zones will be created are Glasgow Green, Merchants Quay and the Kelvingrove Bandstand, currently undergoing a £2 million ($3.2 million/€2.4 million) major refurbishment for the Games. At these and other locations yet to be finalised, fans will be able to watch action from major events, as well as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. The zones will also showcase highlights of Festival 2014, which is being held around the Games, and runs from July 19 to August 23, which organisers claim will see an invigorating mix of entertainment, culture and enjoyment fills the streets, spaces and stages of Glasgow.
