Gleeson have put the site at West Filands up for sale by auction. This is the site that they battled so hard through the courts to win planning permission for. Gleeson convinced many people, including several prominent people in our community, to support their site for houses over other sites specifically because of the building quality standard of the homes they were proposing (which was a separate issue to the location of the site itself). The site will now be bought by any developer paying the highest price, who will build whatever houses (density, quality etc) they will apply for. I feel sorry for those people, naming no names, who were naively taken in by Gleeson and their promises to build quality homes and create great social housing, and then actively campaigned on social media and in real life to promote the Gleeson site and do the Malmesbury Neighbourhood Plan down. I do hope they dont fall for the same promises again...
