Glenda and I watched Frozen the other day. Some thoughts: 1. Nice to see Disney (not Pixar but core Disney) making a movie about princesses where the central theme is the relationship between two sisters, and not you need to find a MAN. But even so, they do have our heroine fall in love with TWO dashing guys over the course of the movie. Even in a movie about sisters and sacrifice, Disney has to *try* to marry off the heroine - twice! Because princesses! 2. There were two really good songs, but the rest of the time it was oh GOD theyre breaking into song again. 3. The Trolls big song and dance number is maybe the worst advice ever for small girls. Oh hes messed up? You can fix him! They even seem to realize this and back out of it by the end of the song, where it sort of morphs into hey we all need a little improvement but with love were all better! Its too little too late, though, especially since they end it by LITERALLY trying to force Anna and Kristoff into marriage. 4. The twist is handled really poorly, from a writing standpoint. Need a little foreshadowing or something. 5. Yet another Disney flick where parents would inconveniently stop the main characters from making horrible life choices, so hey LETS KILL OFF THE PARENTS IN THE FIRST TEN MINUTES. Seriously, what is it with Disney and offing the parents?
