Glendon is a resident here at Shepherd of the Valley. He is 73 years old, never been married and never had a driver’s license. Glendon attends church in the neighboring town, about 10 miles away. He does not miss a weekend, usually attending the Saturday evening service and both on Sunday. He is a greeter. Most times a fellow church member gives him a ride home. One of the men that gave him a ride home also invited him to Thanksgiving dinner with their family. Glendon was thrilled to have a family to celebrate the holiday with since he only has a niece who does not include him. As the meal was finished, Glendon noticed a great deal of leftovers. He asked if it would be okay for him to take a plate to another resident who also spends holidays alone. They helped him fix a plate and even carried it to the resident when they gave Glendon a ride back home. The resident was so excited that someone thought of him! After this incident, the family, along with their Bible study group, has provided both Christmas and Easter dinner to any and all of our residents! Sherry Wallace Etter brought this to my attention and I wanted to share this you.. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just. Luke 14:13-14 (Source: graceworksaffordablehousing.org/communities/shepherd-of-the-valley-community/)
