Glenn Beck tried all morning to lay out the freak factor about Bergdahls father. As happens from time to time, Glenn seemed to be thinking so much, so far ahead, that he fumbled the now a little. But I understood what he was trying to say and agree. First, nobody stands next to the president without the president knowing what the person is going to say. Note, no VA family visits, no Tahmooressi family visits, but arm around Robert Bergdahl at the podium, at the White House. So.. Obama is in on whatever that was and approves of it. What was it? Claire Lopez, former CIA, says the White House has now been blessed for Islam. I tend to agree. The fathers words were incoherent in themselves, and yet they seemed very purposeful. He was saying something to someone, something the public was NOT intended to understand. He explains his language switch by saying that his son is having trouble with English after five years. Initially, I understood that. Bowe probably had to learn Pashtun to speak with his Haqqani Afghan captors. But.. would I have trouble with English after five years? Probably not. It was an assumption I made that, upon reflection, I now disagree with. What was next? The father changed languages, but NOT TO PASHTUN. He spoke in Arabic, the blessing from Allah the merciful and the compassionate, etc etc, which begins every chapter in the Koran save one. Why would he say THIS to his son? Dont get me wrong, all Muslims know the words, and the fact that it was in Arabic is not the key factor here. But.. did the father then continue in Pashtun, talking to his English-afflicted son? Did he offer him greetings in Pashtun or anything at all? No. The father immediately continued on, IN ENGLISH, oddly saying Bowe, Im your father. Was Bowe having so much trouble with English that he forget the face or voice of his own father? And if so, why did the father switch back to ENGLISH? Then the father went on, IN ENGLISH, saying something to the afghan people and naming a Haqqani leader. I have no way of knowing for sure, but... it seems to me that was a coded message. Otherwise, it was incoherent and clunky, for a guy who had it written down AND whose words had been cleared by the White House (as are the words of anyone who appears next to the president and speaks). Whatever he said, it made no sense on the surface. But Obama was pleased, and the father delivered it in a way the visibly satisfied him. So what was he saying? Claire Lopez thinks he was, among other things, offering an Islamic blessing on the White House which Islamists everywhere will understand and which will encourage and embolden them. Personally, I can believe this, although I think there is so much background contact between the White House and Islamists, it would be pointless for this kind of coded message to be sent to anyone on that side. Obama could just call them up. But this public ceremony that is more than it seems to be, thats Islamist style. Like building a mosque at Ground Zero. Its a claim. Islamists and all Muslims recognize it for what it is. Thats my take. It was Islamist back-patting and celebrating over having taken the White House. Perhaps only symbolically for now. For now.
