Glimpses of hope today: i met the most wonderful hospice nurse today who talked with me and really listened to my concerns about the sequence of events that led us to this ugly place in only 12 days. She acknowledged that some of the medical professionals i was entrusting to help me care for my mom led us down a path that we need to move away from immediately. As of this evening, we are already making medication changes, uncovered a minor infection that when undetected can lead to confusion and inability to do simple tasks that could be done the day before, and had the first round of 5 days of radiation to hopefully decrease a tumor that is pinching a nerve. I feel as though we may be moving away from this place of horrible fear and anguish to compassion and hope. I am grateful to this hospice nurse who wrapped her arms around us and promised love.
