Gloria Gilmore, my great and long time friend, animal advocate, tireless activist, and generally a shining example of a human being on the leading edge of civilization, has departed from this world she devoted her life to improving for the rest of us. My deepest condolences for her equally wonderful daughter Kelly McNulty, her Earthly love Brian Stetten, and all who love her. Brian wrote: [Sadly, the pancreatic cancer metastasized so quickly that my loves condition deteriorated very rapidly. It was a matter of two months ago that she was diagnosed. [It was an intensely passionate relationship, and I never felt that anyone ever knew me so well. She had a very youthful zest for life and a great sense of humor. I am really having a tough time coping with her absence, and will always miss and love her. [Last Friday, in the Hospice by the Sea, me and her daughter, Kelly McNulty, held her hands and continually expressed our feelings of affection and love as she began to exhibit Cheyne-Stokes respiration...a very rapid breathing. We took turns laying down next to her and holding her. She died in my arms about 7:00 that evening. I hope we provided comfort in the end. [I often told Gloria, that meeting her was the best thing that ever happened to me....I felt that was very true. As wonderful getting to know her has been, losing her is equally devastating. Im thankful I have memories....memories of holding her and sharing each others dreams. Noam Chomsky was right about love...Lifes empty without it.] Brian is a good friend of mine and a broadcaster who has invited me on his program [Towards Democracy] numerous times. He told me today that Gloria was the one who strongly urged him to give my voice an avenue to reach the rest of the world. R.I.P., Gloria Gilmore.
