Glorifying God How should we glorify God? Do we glorify God by how - TopicsExpress

Glorifying God How should we glorify God? Do we glorify God by how we think God should be glorified, or is there a prescribed way of glorifying Him? It is written, “He that is of God heareth God’s words:” (John 8:47). What does God require that, by doing it, we are glorifying Him? To the elect people of God, He says, “Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all ways that I have commanded you, that it may be will unto you.”(Jeremiah 7:23) In another place, He says, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter, fear God and keep His commandments: for this is whole duty of man.”(Ecclesiastes 12:13). Is it love, as many would say, or is it to fear God? Let us read Jesus’ case to be certain, as written, “Who in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard in that he feared. (Hebrews 5:7) Is the general practice of shouting, “Praise the Lord, or hallelujah”, glorifying God? Both terms mean the same thing. It means praising the Lord. It is an instruction to believers to praise God and not for one to shout at the congregation to praise God. If one is a preacher, as acknowledged in the church, to praise God is not to shout praise the Lord, but to speak the word of God for the congregation to be guided in righteousness. To praise is to obey or to call, as written, “I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised.”(Psalm 18:3) Another thing worth mentioning, which is being practiced by most Christians sects is the giving of testimonies about how blessed they are to the congregation. It is written, “He that speaketh of himself seeketh His own glory but he that seeketh His glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.” (John 7:18) You don’t testify about yourself to another or to the congregation. As a believer, you testify about the word of God for them to know how to deal with their Spiritual problems. Another Spiritual pronouncement for our guidance is as written, “If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.”(John 5:31) If one is thankful for any blessing, is one prevented from giving thanks in his heart to God in prayer? Spiritual blessings come as knowledge, understanding and wisdom. In the flesh, the vanity of carnal blessings are for all, as written, “All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous and to the wicked; to the good and the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth as he that feareth an oath.” (Ecclesiastes 9:2) Of course God is love but this is to the living but not to the dead in Spirit or those appointed for Spiritual death by His knowledge. But for all God wants man to know the difference between the Creator and creature? It is written, “I know that whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever: nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it: and God doeth it, that man should fear before Him.” (Ecclesiastes 3:14) So can we testify to boast about anything to show that God is with us or for us just to be thankful in our hearts? For another thing, God has said, “How can you believe which receive honour one of another and seek the honour that cometh from God only.” (John 5:44) It is evident among many so called preachers, that this guide on what is right, is ignored. The adjective “Reverend and Holy” which describes the name of God is being used as their title. In fact we just call God as “Our Father” but some people are addressed as “Most Holy Father”. Even the Apostle did not title themselves as such. Even Paul himself, was just living in the hope that he will be given the crown of life. Unchosen, unordained and unnamed so-called holy men who only learned Scriptures from the teachings of men cannot wait for God’s judgment for them to use holy titles. It is God that judge righteousness. This is what is written in Scriptures regarding the things of God. It is written, “Even so the things of God knoweth no man (like who are righteous or who are not: who are saints and who are not), but the Spirit of God.” (I Corinthians 2:11) But to them, if they can canonize people to be saints, why not give themselves great spiritual titles? After all in this world, the better speaker you are like politicians, the better are you received. But regarding the things of God, it is written Jesus said, “I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” (John 17:14) Watching religious programs on T.V., it is evident that preachers preach like politicians, frequently using the words: God, Jesus Christ, Holy Ghost, etc. Truth does not come from how one speaks. It comes from the message. It is written, “I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.” (Jeremiah 23:21-22) Nevertheless for the duration of the program what will never be absent on the T.V. screen is the address where you can send your assistance or offerings.
