Much had happened in that short time. Against all chance, I found my way out of that dungeon and confronted Conrad in his chambers, prior to the service that would have made Sonia his wife. Conrad, knew full well that I could always best him in a fight, so caved in immediately on seeing me. His face white as he fell to his knees and confessed all. Sending guards to apprehend his accomplices Shoan and Velten, I ordered another to remain to ensure that my brother did not leave his chambers until I called for him. Hurrying off, I managed to get my wrist bandaged and make myself presentable for the ceremonies that were to follow. After they were over and Sonia was at last my wife, I ordered for Conrad to be brought forth to face the assembled court over his treacherous and traitorous conduct. The guards returned without him, it seems that he had found a way to escape the justice he was due. Always the coward, Conrad had taken the easy way out.
