Gmornin folks! Ok time for Ds thought of the day. As I was driving uptown to get me a coffee that you can only purchase uptown and Quispam, I drove by a Commissionaire doing what they always do; Make people regret parking in uptown Saint John. Ill qualify this post by stating upfront, I KNOW parking uptown needs to be monitored or else it will become someones permanent parking lot. However, Mel Norton, Greg Norton, Bob McVicar and others that have influence, can we come up with a better solution? If we are to propose ideas for new business in Canadas Oldest Incorporated City, we need to stop people from being discouraged to park uptown. The revenue that is generated by the parking tickets, where does it go? Does it just funnel back to the Commissionaires for the most part? Ask any Saint John resident why they dont like to travel uptown and youll hear them say parking. I love old buildings, I love the character they bring and the sense of history behind them. If they are sitting vacant and run down and costing the city instead of the owners, raze them. Its simple. You want business to thrive, create ample parking for the patrons to load purchases in their vehicles and easily get to the events they want to get to without the scowls of the Parking Commission. Now Ill take my first sip of my Second Cup Coffee. D
