Go Against the Flow In obedience to our Master, Jesus Christ, we must be willing to go against the flow of society. A picture was drawn showing a school of fish all swimming in the same direction except for a single fish heading the opposite way. The one fish became the age-old symbol for Christ and on the picture it had been written, ‘going against the flow’. As we follow Jesus, we are to be imitators of him in all spheres of life therefore; our motives, values and habits are bound to be different from those who are not followers of Christ. People around you should see the difference in your life from your speech, walk and action.Be an encourager to those around you, speak life to those who are feeling low, spread the love of God around you. When we are marching to the beat of a different drummer, we will be out of step with certain aspects of society. This takes conviction, courage and courtesy. By God’s grace we can be disturbingly different and effectively different because when we walk with the Lord, we will be out of step with the world. "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." [Romans 12:2]
