Go and see the Green Mountain Defense Industries (GDMI) rifles. This is an incredible company, with the inventor being a former Army Sergeant who is now 29 years, and got in trouble with his chain of command by coming up with better ways of doing things better in combat engineering operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. One of his papers went all the way to the top of the Army, and all he got for it was chewed out for not clearing it with his immediate chain of command first. So much for a flat and learning organization, the US Army? More concerned with egos and rank than accomplishing the outcome. So he got out two years ago, and began his own company to make rifles better than the current M4. He improved on every category.
