Goa governor B V Wanchoo on Friday resigned from his post, clearing the way for the government to appoint seven new governors. Government sources said a list of new governors has been prepared and a formal announcement may be made in the next couple of days. Wanchoo is learnt to have resigned hours after being questioned by the CBI in connection with the AgustaWestland helicopter deal on Friday . The CBI questioned Wanchoo at the governors house in Goa following which an statement released by Wanchoos office said he was questioned as a “witness“. Wanchoo is the fifth governor to have resigned after the new government came to power. Two others recently completed their tenure. All those who have resigned are bureaucrat-turned-governors, which includes M K Narayanan (West Bengal), Ashwini Kumar (Nagaland), B L Joshi (UP) and Shekhar Dutt (Chhattisgarh). H R Bhardwaj (Karnataka) and Devanand Konwar (Tripura) demitted office on expiry of their tenure.
