Goals from Stewart and Hassan(2) secure a well-deserved 3 points for the Blues. The Blues began the game on the front foot and were on the attack almost immediately with Stewart sending a header wide. They continued to push forward and after 9 minutes took the lead when Stewart, making his 1st appearance after a 6 month injury lay off, was on hand to score the opener. The Blues suffered a setback shortly after when Damian OKane , following a clash of heads, had to be replaced. Goal number 2 arrived after 25 minutes when Hassan latched onto a rebound from the Carniny keeper and swept it home. Although Carniny tried hard to get a foothold in the game the Blues were always comfortable and indeed had chances to extend their lead only to be denied by poor finishing and good goalkeeping with 1 exceptional save from McAlynns free kick. The 2nd half was a scrappy affair with the Blues in total control and they eventually added to their tally when Rafferty made a terrific run down the right wing beating 2 defenders and crossing for Doole in the box who was blatantly pushed in the back but the ball broke for Hassan to score his 2nd and the Blues 3rd. The Blues were unfortunate not to extend their lead on a few occasions with Carniny only having 1 real chance when their striker headed wide when well placed in the last few minutes. A good all round team performance with Hassan just pipping ONeill for the Blues man of the match award. TEAM: Crozier, D OKane, Hassan, R OKane, ONeill, Hawe, Mulholland, Rafferty, Stewart, Devlin, McAlynn. Subs Henry, Doole
