Goals set at todays meeting with CCG Directors of Public Works and Recycling/Sanitation: 1) Find alternative uses for glass. The City incurs a loss by recycling glass. 2) Find a 30 x 30 space in Uptown with access to the street to a place 20 roll-off container to collect goods to be recycled. 3) Find two 20 roll-off containers to be donated to hold recyclables. Some possible donors include Reaves, MDI, Sandman, Pratt Industries... Do you know of others? Keep Columbus Beautiful could be our sponsoring 501c3 organization. If we can arrange for these large containers, the City will provide multiple 95-gallon bins to keep in whatever space is permitted. 18-gallon bins will be given to residents. 4) Promote recycling. The Citys Recycling Program is not yet self-sustainable. Aluminum, plastic, and paper bring in the most money. Milk jugs cannot be recycled. I learned that today. 5) Promote the businesses Uptown to recycle. Lets go green as much as possible. Keep Columbus Beautiful can develop stickers to be placed in the front windows for businesses that say theyve Gone Green. - Idea: Were Green People. Are You Green TOO? - We could think of a way to promote word of mouth.
