God Choses His Own Way Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts . Hebrews 3:15 There was once a company that required one hundred percent co-operation and agreement by all its employees before they could sign up for a new pension-insurance plan. Everyone in the entire company was anxious to enter into the new plan except for one selfish, stubborn and egotistic man, who refused to see the benefits of the new plan. He stated all kinds of reasons for not joining with others and refused to sign the consent form. Every one of his fellow employees tried to induce him to sign but he stubbornly refused. Finally, his boss called him into the office. He handed the man a paper and a pen and said: "Look, here’s the paper. Here’s the pen. Sign it or you’ll be fired”. The man immediately picked up the pen and signed his name in the consent form. In exasperation, the boss demanded, “Why didn’t you sign before?” “Well”, the man replied, “no one ever explained it to me so clearly before”! Sometimes we postpone God’s call until He really pushes us to a corner and presses us. George committed his life to Lord and promised to serve Him when he was a youth. Though the Lord opened many doors for him, George kept postponing giving some reason or other - “My children are young and need financial support for their education. Once they are settled, I would start serving the Lord.” “This is the most appropriate age for me to earn money. If I become a little older, I might not earn comfortably..... let me save some money and then go the Lord’s work....” This was the list of excuses often given by him. One fine day, the Lord met George in His own way to make him “sign this contract”. As George was speeding in his two wheeler, he was hit over by a bus. He was injured badly and was hospitalized for a month after which he was immobile for five more months! George then understood God’s ways. As soon as he got well, he started doing the work of the Lord which he had been postponing for several years. Dear friends, often God uses troubled times to teach us a lesson. But let us not wait for such painful events to happen in our lives. Instead, let us willingly yield to the Lord and do whatever He says in total trust and obedience
